This privacy policy explains what personal data GymMap collects, what it's used for, and what rights you have as a user. GymMap complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

2. What data we collect and why

We only collect the data necessary to provide the service:

Account information (email, profile) – to create and maintain your account. Based on the contract under the Terms of Service.

Information you add yourself (bio, links, profession) – to display your profile to other users. Based on contract.

Voluntary check-in announcements and training data – to help you find training partners and show activity on the map. Because this data can be interpreted as health-related, we ask for your separate consent to process it.

Chat messages – to enable communication between users. Based on contract.

Basic gym information (name, address, website) collected from publicly available sources – to display gyms on the map. Based on legitimate interest. A gym may request correction or removal of its information by contacting info@gymmap.fi.

3. How long we retain data

Account: for as long as the account is active.

Check-ins and announcements: up to 24 hours, after which they are automatically deleted.

After account deletion, data is permanently removed unless the law requires longer retention.

4. Who we share data with

Other users, to the extent your profile and active announcement are visible in the app.

A Verified Partner gym, if you seek visibility at a pin it manages – in this case we share your basic information with the gym's administrator for approval.

Authorities, only when required by law.

We do not use external analytics tools that track you outside the app. Data is stored on secure servers within the EU/EEA.

You have the right to:

access your data

delete your account and data

withdraw any consent you've given

file a complaint with your national data protection authority.

TERMS OF SERVICE

These Terms of Service explain how GymMap works and what responsibilities you and other users have. GymMap is a safe and trustworthy platform for finding training partners, gyms, and wellness professionals.

1. Description of the Service

GymMap is an app where users can:

find training partners

find gyms

find wellness professionals

post announcements.

GymMap owns all pins shown in the app and determines the terms of their use.

2. User responsibilities

By using GymMap, you agree to:

provide accurate information

behave respectfully

comply with applicable law

take responsibility for your own safety when meeting other users.

GymMap may suspend the account of any user who violates these terms.

3. Pins

Free pin: professionals may freely post announcements based on public location data, regardless of whether the pin includes a link to the gym's website.

Verified Partner pin 👑: the gym has entered into an agreement with GymMap and gains control over which professionals may advertise their services at that pin.

The search for training partners is never restricted at any pin, including Verified Partner pins.

Announcements remain visible on the map for up to 24 hours.

4. Professionals

Professionals are solely responsible for:

their own activities

any required permits or licenses

any agreements with a gym, if operating physically on its premises.

Professionals may not use a gym's name or logo in a way that suggests an official partnership.

GymMap acts solely as a digital announcement platform and is not a party to any agreement between a professional and a gym or client.

5. Intellectual property

The app's name, logo, pins, and technical implementation belong to GymMap. Users retain the rights to their own content (e.g. profile pictures) but grant GymMap the right to display it within the app in order to provide the service.

6. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is." GymMap is not responsible for:

meetings between users

the quality of services or any payments

agreements between gyms and professionals

technical outages.

7. Other terms

Users may delete their account at any time.

GymMap may update these terms; the current version is always available in the app menu.

These terms are governed by Finnish law, unless mandatory legislation in the user's country of residence requires otherwise.
